Recipe for Romance Parker Elliot Books Reviews
Though it's a sweet story, there were so many gaps to it, you are left with not the complete story. It's about two best friends from high school who loose touch after an explosive kiss shared after graduation. (One friend is gay, one is straight. Not a new theme.) Ironically enough, and something that would most likely never happen, the two friends both become chefs. Here is where my problems start with this story
1. Straight friend abandons gay friend after explosive kiss because he can't be what gay friend needs.
2. Straight friend then goes on to college and continues experimenting with guys before trying to keeping being straight.
3. Straight friend comes back to gay friend and he starts out with conflicting emotions for one second before they jump into a relationship with no angst, no doubts, no problems, no freak outs, nothing. He terminated his friendship after one kiss and then there was no drama at all?
4. Straight friend comes out to his sister as more of an after thought. No drama.
It quite frankly reads like an outline. The author made the rough outline and when writing it, didn't fill in the gaps. That was just one example of gaps that I shared too. There were gaps everywhere. At one point in the story, the gay friend refused to play the chef after a trauma in the past. The sister tried to get him to cook, nothing. Straight friend tried and bham! He was cooking again. It skipped over the drama. Gay friend owned a restaurant with his sister where he started out being the chef and the sister managed the front end. The trauma happened that kicked the gay friend from wanting to cook and according to the author, it was agreed that the sister and gay friend just switched places and she became the chef and he managed. Ummm, I don't think that actually happens. I mean, it takes quite a bit of training to be a head chef and are we to assume that she received training but decided to not use it so her brother could be head chef and then later put those really rusty skills to work? It isn't even realistic! Those parts killed the story for me. I ended up skimming since I wasn't missing anything anyway due to the huge gaps. I wouldn't waste my time with this book.
**Spoiler Alert**
One impulsive kiss after high school graduation tears two friends apart.
Cory is hurt, then angry when Wyatt disappears after they shared a toe-curling kiss at his graduation party. Ten years later he is older, wiser, and wary about letting him back in his life.
Wyatt has never forgotten the last time he saw Cory. He never faced his feelings about that day and does not know how to face Cory now.
Working together should have been harder but they found a way to work around their buried feelings. One unexpected kiss proves that their boyish feelings have matured and followed them into manhood.
They struggle through the interference of Cory’s vindictive ex but make it through to the other side and move toward a future together.
This was a well thought out and well written second chance story. Cory and Wyatt’s feelings for each other, even during the confusing times, were evident and the HEA was reached without too much waffling from the main characters. I could feel the warmth of love and desire between them.
The spicy scenes were good without being too graphic.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Fun and sexy reading
Awesome. Sweet, gentle and just enough to keep you interested.
Sweet interesting story. Very well written for a new author. Looking forward to more from him!
Didn't want it to end, but who can resist a HEA like this one? Well, except for the choice of where to live. The sisters were well written, too, and realistic for the situations.
This was a beautiful love story, with lots of drama, to keep you turning those pages. The characters were perfect, they will keep you hoping the story doesn't end. Definitely a must read, written by a very good Author. I know I'll be looking for more of His books! Many thanks 🍯 Honey Bee 🐝📚💙🎶
